Introduction
My name is SavannahGrace Young and I am a 20yr old junior in the Education program. I grew up home schooled in Easton, Pennsylvania but my family moved to Fort Mill in 2015. My major is Secondary, English Education and some of my hobbies include singing, club volleyball, and music. I work 20 hours a week between the gym on campus and the Upstate housing office so my schedule is constantly jam-packed busy. As a learner I like to be very organized and have the expectations of the assignment(s) very clearly stated. The one thing that stresses me out more than anything is when I have no idea where to even begin an assignment or what the expectations of the assignment are.
When I look back over my childhood and adolescence a character that strongly stood out to me was Princess Anna from the Disney movie Frozen. I think I bonded so closely to this character because I felt that related to her situation on a deep level. Like Anna, I was extremely sheltered and lived by very strict rules in my parent(s) house, all the while, I had an extroverted personality and wanted nothing more than to live by my free spirit which concerned a lot of my peers. I never really read all that much as a teenager other than some religious material that my mom would assign as school work. In general, I feel like certain characters have had a significant impact on my life, partly because I could relate to something or someone who seemed to understand the difficulties that I couldn't express as an adolescent child and I feel like this is common to a lot of individuals when reading literature or watching film.

It's great to have you in class, Savannah. My niece plays club volleyball, so I've been learning quite a bit about that sport recently. I love to watch a good match! I appreciate the details about your work schedule, and it sounds like you do very well with time management. I would love to hear more about mainstream literature you read while being home schooled, and more about Pennsylvania. I hope the books we read will inspire your future teaching. Thank you for sharing!
