About me (Blog post 1)

Hi everyone, I’m Sam (she/her). I’m a transfer student senior and an English major with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies.  As for my hobbies, anime and video games are a huge interest of mine.  Specifically, I’m a cosplayer and I love making my own costumes.  I’ve always been crafty, so cosplay is perfect for me, because I get to sew, craft, and make costumes of my favorite characters.  My favorite series of all time (and my favorite to cosplay from) is Fire Emblem.  Japanese media is a huge interest of mine—me and my now husband met when we were younger because of a shared interest in the anime Naruto.  We’re both huge nerds!  As for other interests, I am very much passionate about feminism, I love studying history, and I find reading Shakespeare to be extremely fun (the Shakespeare & Disney course here at Upstate with Dr. Canino is to thank for that).   I recently started a seasonal job at Bath & Body...

Blog Post #1

Hey, so I tried to post my blog before, but it either didn't go through all the way, or I accidentally posted it somewhere else (this is the first time I've ever done a blog), so if there's two of these...that's why lol.  Hey, I'm Helen :) My major is English. I plan to minor in Spanish next semester. Writing is my hobby, passion, and career. I mostly write fantasy books, but I also occasionally write poems, short stories or rap songs. I'm not working anywhere at the moment, just trying to focus on school. I'm usually a slow-reader, but it's easier when it's an easy read and not as many words. I have focusing issues sometimes, and can forget assignments, can get overwhelmed, but I have a life coach to help me with this, and a good app that helps me keep track of things. I'm always eager to do the best I can. I got into both reading and writing when I read many of the  Goosebumps  books by R.L. Stine in third grade. I loved the idea of spooky gho...

Blog #1

Hi! My preferred name to go by is Nicole. I just transferred from Greenville Technical College where I took all of my general education classes. I have changed my major once or twice because I was trying different things out. I ended up deciding on my English major and Business minor with dreams of working in publishing one day.      Obviously one of my passions is reading. If I ever have any free-time, you'll usually find me with a book or my kindle in my hands. Learning to read at a really young age, it's always been a huge part of my life. I apparently have a bad habit of continuing to buy books when my TBR list is at least in the triple digits by now. My mom likes to make fun of me for always receiving book packages haha. Other than reading, I am a huge music person. I could spend hours and hours just listneing to music. I like pretty much anything that makes me want to move. My genres jump around from pop, to country, to hip-hop on a daily basis. ...

Blog 1 (Cameron)

  1. My full name is Cameron James Lee Newton. Usually, people tend to call me Cam instead of saying the whole thing, but my friends call me Pinball ( my nickname).  2. I am an English major. I intended to settle for a film cognate, but I haven't gotten to take any film courses yet, so I am figuring that out.  3. I have several hobbies. I play video games, read books, manga, comics, and the occasional  article. I also play the drums and i was even in a movie when I was in sixth grade.  4. I work at a lawyer's office in Gaffney, SC. It is extremely part time, I'd say I work probably once every other week. .  5. I don't know, I guess it would be best to just be clear with what you are saying. My brain has a weird way of retaining information. I can easily tell you all the different types in Pokémon but couldn't tell you what the quadratic equation is. So just be clear with what you are saying and maybe don't be afraid to slow it down for me.  6.Reading h...

Josh Holmes - Blog Post #1

      1. My major area of study is Secondary Education with a focus on English. I started my college career wanting to be a journalist, attending SCC and receiving my Associate in Arts degree. During the transfer to Upstate, I decided to pursue teaching and have been on that track since.      2. I have many hobbies! I collect vinyl records (I own about 660 records and consider them to be my prized possessions). I thrift a lot with the intention of reselling. I run a YouTube channel with my girlfriend of 12 years related to thrifting called Dummy Records & Thrift, where we film ourselves finding great stuff to resell. We have about 2,000 subscribers to our channel, which we are very proud of. I also write and play music, as I have been playing guitar for about 15 years and drums for around 2 years. I often play street concerts with my best friend Zakk for the Chapman Cultural Center, which is really fun. My two passions in life are horror movies and heav...

Introduction - Angel Brakorenko

I really hope I am doing this right haha! My name is Angel Brakorenko and I prefer to go by Angel. My area of study, as you already know, is middle level education and I am minoring in English. Some hobbies include painting, stage acting, piano, reading, cosplaying and singing. I used to be in track but I do not feel passionate enough about it to pursue it any longer. I recently got a new job at Starbucks and my shifts usually last for six hours which can be tough when you start at 5:30 in the morning.  I think an important part of me as a learner is that hands on and visual approaches usually work best. I am also a chronic procrastinator although I do end up always turning in work on time.  Thinking back, the books that stuck out to me most when I was younger were the Percy Jackson series, The Coldest Girl in Cold Town by Holly Black, and, weirdly enough, the huge animal encyclopedia we have at home (I was a very curious child). All of these reads sparked my love for li...
